Permabond Primer 2K Surface Preparation For Metals, Glass, Plastics 20 Gram 2-part kit

Permabond 2K Primer is a dual-purpose product, which indicates whether or not sufficient surface preparation has been carried out and contains an adhesion promoter to increase bond strength. It is ideal for preparing metal, glass, plastic, and composites for bonding. When bonding metal, it offers the added advantage of protecting bonded components against corrosion, which also increases long-term durability and bond strength.

Unique Feature: Permabond 2K primer tints the metal with a pink hue, making it easy to tell if it’s been primed already or not. Thus preventing damaging double-coating, or a missed coating completely.

Surface Coverage

The primer has a high coverage area/rate because it is applied as a thin “monomolecular” (one molecule thick) layer. Average Coverage: You get 10 to 15 square feet of surface area per ounce of material, when wiped on correctly.

2K Primer Instructions For Use:

1. Degrease and lightly abrade bond areas.
2. Degrease again to remove dust.
3. Pour the contents of component B into the bottle marked A.
4. Attach spray attachment to bottle A and shake well.
5. Spray the bond area with a thin layer of primer.
6. If the 2K primer beads up, as shown on the right-hand side of the image below, more surface preparation is needed.
7. Repeat the degreasing and abrading process until the 2K primer wets out the surface evenly, as shown on the left-hand side of the image below
8. If wetting is good, remove excess with a clean, dry cloth or tissue.
9. Allow to dry before bonding.
10. Use mixed primer within 8 hours.
